Acupuncture points for pregnancy Unfortunately, one in eight married couples have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. That’s about 12% of married women who have fertility issues. Conception acupuncture points actually can improve the body’s ability to get pregnant and sustain that pregnancy.

“Acupuncture is thought to shift the body into a repair mode where it’s better able to heal itself, as well as calming the nervous system,” says Laura Rosenthal, a licensed acupuncturist for New York University Langone Medical Center Fertility Center, via

Rosenthal added, however, that this method is not 100% accurate for those struggling with fertility issues, and it depends on a few other circumstances. “There are certain conditions that can’t be helped by acupuncture, such as blocked fallopian tubes, so you need to know what is going on with your body medically,” Rosenthal said.

Pain Relief

Acupuncture points can improve neck and back pain, shoulder issues, osteoarthritis, and even chronic headache issues. Some of these medical problems can cause stress on top of all that pain. Finding a non-surgical remedy for these medical issues can be difficult, so acupuncture can be a great alternative.

According to Harvard Medical School, acupuncture’s effects on pain can work better than even some medications in certain circumstances.

“I think the benefit of acupuncture is clear, and the complications and potential adverse effects of acupuncture are low compared with medication,” said Dr. Lucy Chen, a pain medicine specialist, anesthesiologist, and acupuncturist at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Acupuncture isn’t only for pain relief, pregnancy help, and emotional improvements, it may even be able to improve dementia symptoms. Fox News Health reports that a study using both Western and Chinese research showed improvements patients’ mental health after acupuncture treatment.

“Overall, our meta-analysis suggests that acupuncture was a useful therapy in improving cognitive function for patients for patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment,” said the neurologists who conducted the study. “It also suggested that acupuncture was effective when used as an adjunctive treatment to Nimodipine for mild cognitive impairment.”
